Meet Sae
I am a qualified counsellor with a Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling (CPCAB) and a Postgraduate Diploma for Children and Young People.
I have been actively practicing in the UK since 2015.
I am also a qualified teacher starting in Japan in 1995. Since then I have taught in Thailand, USA, Peru and the UK. My experience of working closely with people of various age groups (children from age 5 to 18, university students and adults) and with diverse racial, cultural and educational needs backgrounds. This has helped me become a good listener who can adapt sessions to meet each individual's needs.
I can communicate in Japanese, English and Spanish. If you don't speak these languages, that's fine. I will be able to communicate with you somehow and often use self-drawn cartoons and images.
During my time overseas I have encountered and overcome a range of difficulties myself. I have survived them by understanding my issues and developing coping strategies by myself. However, now I look back, I would have loved to have someone who would fully understand my situation and to accompany my journey. So I decided to become this person myself.
If you are homesick, having difficulties fitting in, experiencing burnout, feeling 'lost' away from home, or simply feeling that 'something is not right', then I am here to help you.
My counselling therapy mainly involves the two approaches called 'Person-centred' and 'Psychodynamic'. I will work at a pace that is suitable for you. However, if we decide it is necessary, I will gently challenge you to help your reflection. We regularly check and review our progress during the course of our sessions.
I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and I work following its Ethical Framework to provide the greatest benefit and security for my clients. I hold a current Enhanced DBS Certificate.
If you are new to counselling and would like to know more about these theories, or are just curious and have questions, please see this Q&A page.
